Of the 12,954 students enrolled at the University
of North Dakota, 1,996 are graduate students.
While the cultural makeup of the graduate student
body certainly reflects the predominance of the
region's Caucasian population with many Scandinavian
and German descendants, the University is strongly
committed to cultural diversity. UND makes special
efforts to attract and serve American Indian students
and has one of the largest enrollments of American
Indians in the United States. Currently, the student
population at UND includes 102 African-American/Black
students, 275 American Indian students, 147 Asian/Pacific
Islander students, and 100 Hispanic students.
UND students come from every state as well as
Puerto Rico and about 55 other countries.
More than 60% are women, and approximately half
are over age 30.
